Through the Department of Higher Education and Training’s University Capacity Development Programme (UCDP), there are a number of scholarships available for previously disadvantaged South African students. If you do not qualify, you are encouraged to seek other funding options at your own university or at UCT.
The scholarship covers:
Transport and accommodation for three contact week block release modules that are to be held in Cape Town.
Transport and accommodation for the week-long proposal development module to be held in Cape Town.
Registration, transport and accommodation for two conferences during the duration of the PhD programme.
Note that the fees for the PhD programme itself are not part of the scholarship as it is expected that the applicant’s institution will cover this cost.
